I believe in experiential education. To me, experiential education is a process of challenge and reflection, stepping outside comfort zones, and making learning processes relevant to the real world. I am adamant that students should be investigators into their own education and develop skills while seeking solutions to challenges posed by teachers acting as facilitators.
“Challenge by choice” is a motto that I teach and live by. I strive to instill in my students the value of a challenge and the act of stepping outside their comfort zones in order to learn more about themselves. I believe that by encouraging students to make the choice of challenging themselves, they will be better able to reflect on and learn from all of their experiences. I am currently privileged to be teaching 4th grade at Journeys School where I have had the opportunity to practice my passion for place-based education in Jackson Wyoming.
